We have at some point heard this phrase, maybe even in scripture. I have recently had this thought stir in my head and have wanted to go deeper to learn exactly what it means.
“Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Luke 18:15-17
We must live this life as Christians with a childlike wonder. Isn't it amazing how easily children can play pretend with other children or by themselves and not even think about anything else? They play so easily and they never want to stop. They have their minds on one thing and are so curious at such a young age to get into anything they can. Their minds at this young age are so naturally craving to learn with different senses and consume as much information as possible.
What exactly am I saying? I recently have learned that some people think that maybe they have done their part as a Christian and have stopped what they have been called to do. I believe that even if we have successfully been able to be disciplined in a certain area of our faith, there is always something we can get better at.
Do you know the Bible forwards and backward and have tons of scripture memorized because that's how you were raised from the beginning? Share that with someone. There are people out there starving for truth.
“Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.”
Psalm 96:3
Do you serve people well and give generously? What about serving yourself? Do you take care of yourself and spend some time in the word alone daily? Spending time alone with Jesus is one of the best things you can do to start your day off in the right direction.
"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."
Psalm 91:1
Are you easily bold in what God is calling you to do daily? I truly respect people like this. Boldness is honestly something I have struggled with my whole life. We can be bold, but we should spend plenty of time being rooted in the Bible and in prayer. We can go our whole lives following God's perfect plan, but if we don't take the time to learn from the Bible, we won't be rooted in our faith.
“So faith comes from hearing, through the word of Christ.”
Romans 10:17
Like children, may we never lose our wonder. We are never wise enough to stop learning new things. God may be teaching you something right now. He's with us in every circumstance, every struggle, every trial. Seek Him in all things.
"Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you." Jeremiah 29:12
"..so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us."
Acts 17:27
"Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually."
1 Chronicles 16:11
