Never Return
Weston Sharpensteen
The sky is ominous.
There is no hope.
The IGA is deserted.
No human in sight.
I am alone.
As I look to the horizon at the close and impending doom,
I can’t help but find peace.
Trees destroyed, sand blowing, the tide rising at unsafe levels.
No sounds except for wind and water.
The inescapable doom is a fascinating doom..
Soon my surroundings become my enemies.
The wave crashes into my house.
Glass and cardboard fly all around.
I wait in anticipation,
For Mother Nature to cast her judgement onto my life.
I could’ve evacuated at the Mayor’s orders.
I could’ve left the town.
But I shall be leaving very shortly.
My evacuation will commence now.
I will never return.
