Attention all Starbucks lovers: have you ever felt like that loving relationship between you and Starbucks has been missing something?
Well, the coffee powerhouse recently announced its plan to begin serving beer and wine on tap at nine different Starbucks locations in the Indianapolis area. This decision is a result of the company's "Evening" movement, in an effort to combat the decrease in customers past 4 p.m. Along with wine and craft beer, select Starbucks locations will also be offering small side plates such as bacon-wrapped dates or truffle mac n' cheese.
Is there a part of you that feels a little suspicious getting your Chardonnay the same place you get your morning cappuccino? You are not the only one who may be feeling that way, however after five long years of research Starbucks is determined to dance the line between barista and bartender. Starbucks' research team discovered that a resounding 70 percent of customers who regularly drink coffee also drink wine, and 31 percent of survey participants said they prefer wine over other alcoholic beverages. Starbucks will also be using this Evening initiative to create a safer and more inviting space than a bar for women to drink with their friends, and also discovered that this initiative is attracting many book clubs, knitting circles, and even a large number of blind dates.
Well, Starbucks lovers, the rumors are true. With Starbucks now serving beer and wine at night along with their usual morning menu, they have officially made it possible to never leave. Go forth and enjoy your girls night out at the Starbucks down the street, but try to remember not to put half-and-half in your red wine.
