The Academy reveals 2015 Oscar nominations

Although the Academy Awards are over two months away, everyone is already trying to predict nominations. The nominees for the 2016 Golden Globes have been announced, which could help clue in who will be in the running for an Oscar. Predicting Academy Award nominations has always been a tricky task, and this year is no different. Variety has stated this year’s Oscar season is a “hot mess,” so your guess is as good as mine. But if I had to pick now, here's who I would choose.

Best Supporting Actress:

Kate Winslet, “Steve Jobs”

Alicia Vikander, “The Danish Girl”

Rooney Mara, “Carol”

Jane Fonda, “Youth”

Rachel McAdams, “Spotlight”

Other Contenders: Jennifer Jason Leigh, “The Hateful Eight”; Helen Mirren, “Trumbo”

Best Supporting Actor:

Mark Rylance, “Bridge of Spies”

Idris Elba, “Beasts of No Nation”

Christian Bale, “The Big Short”

Michael Shannon, “99 Homes”

Jacob Tremblay, “Room”

Other Contenders: Sylvester Stallone, “Creed”

Best Actress:

Brie Larson, “Room”

Cate Blanchett, “Carol”

Jennifer Lawrence, “Joy”

Charlotte Rampling, “45 Years”

Saoirse Ronan, “Brooklyn”

Best Actor:

Leonardo DiCaprio, “The Revenant”

Michael Fassbender, “Steve Jobs”

Eddie Redmayne, “The Danish Girl”

Bryan Cranston, “Trumbo”

Will Smith, “Concussion”

Other Contenders: Johnny Depp, “Black Mass”; Matt Damon, “The Martian”

Best Director:

Tom McCarthy, “Spotlight”

Ridley Scott, “The Martian”

Todd Hayes, “Carol”

Alejandro G. Iñárritu, “The Revenant”

George Miller, “Mad Max: Fury Road”

Other Contenders: Steven Spielberg, "Bridge of Spies"; Adam McKay, “The Big Short”; Lenny Abrahamson, Room

Best Picture:

“Spotlight”

“The Big Short”

“The Martian”

“Mad Max: Fury Road”

“Carol”

“Room”

“Brooklyn”

“The Revenant”

“Bridge of Spies”

“Straight Outta Compton”

Other Contenders: “The Hateful Eight,” “Inside Out,” “Trumbo”

These are my best guesses as to who will be nominated come February, but it's still early in awards season, so anything can happen.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
