Personal Log 6,289,117
I have lost track of how long I have wandered the endless void between stars in search of something meaningful. Countless worlds exist, though with uninteresting and primitive lifeforms, if any at all. However, I have learned of some rumors of a most intriguing possibility. A place where other species thrive together within one massive creature born from a mix of biology and technology. Ancient genetic engineering.
The value of such a find is evident within itself, especially considering how it apparently still lives. And not just that it has survived as long as this, over the course of an indeterminable number of galactic years, but that no one has yet to dismantle or replicate it after all this time. It is safe to assume, however, that whatever race created this living space station has long since been extinct as little else remains to tell of their existence.
Being told of this far from where it supposedly was discovered, I was, naturally, skeptical. Though as I intended to travel out towards the Dhora Dulocracy anyway, this seemed like ample opportunity to investigate for myself this remnant of early celestial life.
Planet to planet, spaceport to spaceport I have gone. This is the 29th vessel which I have boarded, and thankfully it will be the last one for the remainder of this trek. I have successfully navigated my way through the hazard that is crossing closed borders without incident. My pilot informs me that, yes, this “NAUTILUS” does exist. A rather pathetic acronym to be sure, being completely nonsensical in any language I have thus encountered. I have also been informed I may regret ever wanting to visit this place.
It seems to have a rather unwelcoming reputation as well as a bloody history. At least two major invasions have been conducted since its discovery. Both have failed, yet who knows how this has changed things since. Finding documentation during and before either assault would be a treasure trove within itself. I shall do my utmost to record all I experience and witness during my stay for future analysis.
If even half of what I have been told is accurate to some degree, I am sure to discover a multitude of peculiar interests to add to my library. Though I doubt I shall obtain them without some form of struggle. It is during times like these I wish to have my old companions alongside me once again. Alas, they have done their part and shall be remembered.
I have just been notified that we shall be docking shortly. Drop-offs of supplies and transients are quite common here. This means I should not be terribly noticeable when I step off the ship.
This is Kyumi Del’Tari signing off for now, updates to follow.
Addendum: I had to write and rewrite this particular entry too many times, I desperately need to calm myself. Nervous travellers make easy targets and this is the last place where I want to have open conflict.
Author’s Note: Hello readers, we are finally getting off the ground. Slowly but surely, Charlotte Tapp and I are cranking out sections of this story. Feel free to comment and provide criticism. If later on you develop your own ideas as to what should happen, let us know. We might change the next section to alter the story if it is a good enough, or popular enough, idea. Stay tuned for next week's section.
