Having spent my freshman year of college in Boston, celebrating birthdays here, and frequenting the city on the weekends to visit those near and dear to me - here are my favorite places to visit for a meal that is guaranteed to be delicious and cheap. I made sure to include places that I feel like are overlooked in the city, although most people flock to Cheesecake Factory and Dick's Last Resort, in my opinion, you should check out these places next time you find yourself in Beantown.
1. Mul's Diner (South Boston)
Located in South Boston, Mul's Diner is a must. The french toast, scrambled eggs, and pancakes are unparalleled. The wait staff is friendly, the diner has an old-school feel to it, and the working man's special is a steal for all the early risers out there.
2. Tasca (Brighton)
Off of Commonwealth Avenue, Tasca is a great place to celebrate birthdays, lament midterms gone south, or just an enjoy a night out with friends. Known for its tapas and sangria, Tasca is a great place to go for a treat!
3. Ghirardelli (Faneuil Hall)
Right in Faneuil Hall is Ghirardelli, a haven for chocolate and ice cream lovers alike. Although one may assume Ghirardelli is just the home to some overpriced chocolates, the chocolatier offers sundaes, milkshakes, and rootbeer floats. Want a suggestion? The salted-caramel brownie sundae is my go-to.
4. Thinking Cup (Boston Common)
Home of made-to-order grilled cheeses, a motley of desserts, and, of course, an assortment of coffee blends; The Thinking Cup is an ideal place to study, go on a date, or meet up with a mentor of yours. The only downside? No wifi. No outlets. So go with a hot spot, or be prepared for studying unplugged.
5. The Pour House (Boylston)
The Pour House's "Stately Burgers", towering nachos, and tots served with firecracker sauce are tasty, served in hefty portions, and (most importantly) cheap. This hole in the wall is a hidden gem.
