My Top 12 Christmas Movies
History Channel

Christmas is around the corner. People standing in the cold to get a video game system, office parties, and everywhere we look Christmas. This meaning two things on the TV and Radio, Christmas movies and music 24/7. There are a lot of list of the best Christmas movies and specials, so I will make my own list. Here are 12 of my favorite Christmas movies. Why 12? Because of the 12 days of Christmas. Let's begin.

1. "It's a Wondeful Life" (1946)

It really isn't Christmas without this classic. Even in the darkest of times, this movies makes all of us have faith and hope in humanity. Remember, no man is a failure without friends.

2. "The Muppet Christmas Carol" (1992)

As you know, I am a sucker for "The Muppets". This is my favorite telling of the Dicken's classic. It's the charm of "The Muppets", Michael Caine's brillant performance, and the whitty writing that makes this the best adaptation of the classic novel.

3. "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas" (1977)

Another Jim Henson creation, this time based of the story booky by Russell Hoban. It tells the story of Emmet, a young otter who enters a talent contents to get a gift for his mom. It's one of the most criminally underrated Christmas specials of all time. Just don't put no hole in the wash tub

4. "The Night Before" (2015)

Yes this is new, but it's probably one of the best R rated Christmas Comedies since "Bad Santa". It's a great movie about friendship and it's one of Seth Rogan's best movies. It may be a year old, but it's should be come an instant classic

5. "Bad Santa" (2003)

This movie is rude, crude, and very mean spirited. But strangly, it works. The charm of the kid, Billy Bob Thorton's Willie Soke, and strangly has a lot of heart in the last third of the movie. It's one that shouldn't be watched with young kids, but will still put you in the spirit of Christmas.

6. "Scrooged" (1988)

A modern take on "A Christmas Carol" with Bill Murray. It's funny and a tradition in the Vogel household each time we put up a Christmas Tree. Funny and dark, something great for everyone

7. "Christmas Vacation" (1989)

It's not Christmas without speading it with the Griswolds. The humor of John Hughes and Chevy Chase shines in this 80's classic invovling wrapping cats, s***ers being full, and kidnapping your boss, because he gave you a subscription to the jelly of the month clubs.

8. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965)

Well, guess why this is on here. The simple, but yet effective story. No wonder it has been a holiday stapel for 51 years.

9. Arthur Christmas

Out of all the moder Christmas movies, this has to be one of the most underrated and underappreciated movies. It's whimshical, magical, and it's a really good take on a Santa's brother story. Give it a watch, you won't regret it.

10. "Die Hard" (1987)

Yippie-Kay-Yey Motherf***er

11. "Love Actually" (2003)

I just have a soft spot for this movie.

12. "Rocky IV" (1985)

Rocky Balboa ends the Cold War on Christmas. What more could you ask for.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
