And why I'll be okay.

Why I Decided Not To Join A Sorority

So you just went through recruitment or you are about to go through the process.

Do it!!

I think everyone should definitely give it a try before making a decision about whether or not Greek life is right for them. You really do not know what being in a chapter is all about until you go through the formal recruitment at your University so I can not speak on behalf of all universities.

But, as a recent PNM at Syracuse University here is my experience.

Round 1, this was, in my opinion, a really fun yet tiring round. You get to go to all the different houses usually in one or two evenings and talk to a variety of different girls. After this round, we narrowed the houses from 13 to 9.

Round 2, this round was a little bit more formal and you were able to have more meaningful conversations with the girls at each house about each of their philanthropies.

Round 3, House Tours! This was my favorite round since the chapters decorated the rooms with different themes. And, they were able to explain how you could potentially live in the house when you're older.

Round 4, This was preference round…You have narrowed down from 13 all the way to 2. This is the scariest day and I took forever to make my final decision to withdraw from the process.

Some may argue that I may not have given either my houses a fair shot. Or others may say how could I possibly know if the houses were right for me just based on the few conversations that I had with the girls in earlier rounds. I think that every house has amazing girls within it.

But, at the end of the day, you have to be happy with the choice you make. And, you want to make sure that you are able to see yourself being a sister here for the rest of your 4 years.

For me, I wanted to pick a chapter at the end of the fourth round. This had been such a long 2 weeks and I wanted it to have ended with me in a chapter.

But in reality, I knew that my heart was not in it and I did not want to only be half present in something. And, I want you to know that you are not alone even though it make seem like you are.

So, maybe this means rushing next spring? Or, maybe this means not ever being a part of one. Only time will tell but I am confident that it will all work out the way it should be in the end. And, I am glad that I was able to go through this experience because I loved being able to meet so many different girls.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
