A Letter To The Lounges In Wessels Hall

My freshman year dorm, Tinsley, was a place where I made a majority of my friends and amazing memories. This article is dedicated to my home for the next year, Wessels, in the hopes that it will be just as wonderful, if not better.

A Letter To The Lounges In Wessels Hall

It's crazy to think that in just a little over a week I will be back at Rutgers, working hard (or hardly working), having fun with my friends, and making memories that will last me a lifetime. I can't remember whether or not I've mentioned it but, I've chosen to volunteer with the Rutgers move-in team. A couple of days ago we got our assignments and I was surprised to see that on the second day I will be helping out at/in Tinsley, my freshman year dorm.

Seeing this brought on an onslaught of memories, ranging from the mental breakdowns I had over studying for Calc II and Data Structures to the "family dinners" I would have with my friends and neighbors. So, this article is dedicated to my home for the next year, Wessels, in the hope that it will be just as wonderful, if not better.

Dear Wessels Hall and the Bishop Quads,

I'm looking forward to exploring your halls, finding places to hang out with my friends or to study for midterms and finals. I absolutely cannot wait for the new friends I'm sure to make in my neighbors and dormmates, the memories that will come along with mental breakdowns overstudying, late-night food runs, and movie marathons. Now, I know that you won't be exactly like Tinsley, but you know what? That's completely okay. I don't expect everything to be the same, simply because its a new year and I am a different person than I used to be. Sophomore year is going to be tough, especially since I'm looking to get an internship next summer, a 4.0 GPA for both semesters, have a job with a social life, and just being involved in general. But, I know, that through thick and thin, you'll always have a place for me. Whether that be in my own room or finding comfort in other people as we chat in the lounges at two in the morning, Wessels will be a safe place for me to relax and enjoy being in college. I'm looking forward to living in Wessels and the Bishop Quads, to new adventures, and everything in between.

With love, Arielle :)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
