My Political Party Is Not My Religion

It’s no secret that the results of the election have caused a huge uproar and a lot of division. It is impossible for me to scroll down any social media feed without finding something about politics. People feel inclined to share who they voted for, and accompany that information with an insult to the opposing candidate. This then offers opportunity for argument and strife. This is completely unnecessary though, and it makes me so upset to see it happening all over the country.

I’ve kept my silence on what my political stances are and on who I voted for. This article isn’t an opportunity for me to open up about all of those things and tell you everything my political party can do for me. This article is about everything that my political party is not and cannot do. I think this is something we can all stand to remember.

My Political Party Is Not My Savior

As Christians, we have one Savior. No one else can even compare to Him. So stop trying to. Your political party is never going to save you. Your political party is never going to fix all of your problems. Your political party is never going to bring you true joy. Stop believing that it will do all of these things for you. You are setting your expectations far too high, which is just setting you up for disappointment. I do not know why anyone would want to prepare themselves for disappointment. Maybe we should all be more aware of this from now on.

My Political Party Does Not Love Me

There have been so many protests surrounding this election, and none of them have been pleasant. As Americans, we have the right to free speech and the right to protest peacefully. But I can’t help but wonder, are some of these protests even worth it? All of the support that we give to our political parties, would that really be reciprocated? I do not think so. Our political parties would not advocate for us on the same scale that many advocate for the political party. I think it’s about time to start caring more about individuals rather than the broader political party. Sometimes we need to do the opposite of what our political party does.

My Political Party Is Not Eternal

America seems to be totally consumed with the election, and they cannot get over it. But I think we’re forgetting, at the end of the day the election has no eternal value. None whatsoever. Who we voted for is a subject that is completely unrelated to eternal life. We are too focused on temporary problems in life and not looking forward. We are forgetting that God’s hand has been throughout this election process. We are forgetting to just let go and trust God to take care of the things we worry about. I think it’s time we let go of things that don’t matter, and find something more worthy to devote our time to.

I really can’t say this enough, we need to stop putting so much worth in our political parties. There are so many things that are more worthy of our time, and I pray that each of us can find these things.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
