An Open Letter To 2015

Dear 2015,

Boy, what a year it has been. I would like to say that 2015 was an all-around great year, but we both know that is far from the truth. The loss of friends, the death of family members, and all of the stresses that college life comes with are just a few examples of the hardships that have come with this year. At the beginning of the year, you saw the resolutions that I made for myself and the struggle I had to reach these goals.

With these bad times, there were some great times as well. With the loss of friends came the gain of new ones. With the death of family members came the reunion of seeing family that I haven't seen in years. With the stresses of college came the close companionship of friends. Of course, the summer was full of great times as well. Vacation, going to concerts, hours spent at the pool, and day trip adventures are only some of the amazing memories I have from the summer of 2015.

There is so much that you have seen, 2015. You saw me in my second semester of my freshman year of college, making memories with friends that I will never forget. You saw the tears of frustration over school work. You saw me begin my sophomore year of college. You saw me grow a year older. You saw me try new things, go to new places, and meet new people.

As the year comes to a close, I find myself revisiting all of the memories I have made over the course of these past 12 months. It's been a tough year, to say the least, but it has also given me more strength and taught me that I can handle anything that comes my way. I truly believe that every trial that I have faced over this year will prepare me for whatever 2016 may bring.

Thank you, 2015. Thank you for helping me to grow into a better and stronger version of myself. Thank you for the good times and the bad, for the new friends and the old, and for all of the life lessons that have continued to helped to shape who I am today.

So goodbye, 2015, and hello, 2016! Here's to another year full of memories and unforgettable moments.

Sincerely,

Me

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
