I would not be the person I am today if it wasn’t for the small town that I grew up in. I wouldn’t have met the amazing people that are currently in my life, or have been able to create irreplaceable moments with them.
My home will always be considered home to me, and I will always make time in my life to visit and cherish the memories that were made there. I just know that I have always wanted to explore and see what the world has to offer upon graduating from college. I hope to move to a bigger place with new faces and aspiring goals.
I wouldn’t say that my hometown is a bad place to live because it is far from that. I just know that if I don’t leave, I will most likely not be able to see what else is out there for me. I feel like staying would hold me back from opportunities, and I don’t want to miss out on any.
I will always think of my hometown as a see ya later rather than a goodbye. Yes, I will probably get lost and freak out multiple times in a large city like New York City or Los Angeles, but I am willing to branch out to see where life takes me. It will be hard at first and take some majoring adjusting. I just know that it will all be worth it in the end.
Don’t be afraid to take initiative and go that extra mile (or many miles) to get where you need to be in order to achieve your destiny. You will always have your hometown to fall back on, and the ones that are in it.
Just always remember your friends and family from home, and thank God for FaceTime and social media to keep up with them. They understand that it’s not your intention to hurt anyone by going away, but for your own good. Your home will still be waiting for you when you come to see it, and the ones in it.
One of my favorite songs is “Wide Open Spaces” by the Dixie Chicks and I think that sums up my idea of this article perfectly.
You should always break out of your comfort zone and do the things you’ve always wanted to do.
