What Odyssey Has Done For Me

My Gateway To Opportunity

What Odyssey Has Done For Me

If you asked me if I am the same person today that I was two years ago, I would say, "definitely not!" If you asked me what's changed since then, I'd tell you that I became involved with the greatest company in the world, Odyssey.

Okay, I get it, that is totally subjective. Well, to me, it's the truth. Odyssey is the greatest company in the world because of what it's offered me. Not only has Odyssey offered me numerous opportunities, but I often credit Odyssey for being my "gateway to opportunity" because since I started writing for Odyssey, I have become more of a leader. I have forced myself to "put myself out there" more often. Here are just a few things that Odyssey has given me.

Odyssey has allowed me to grow as an individual.

Since I started working for Odyssey, I have grown in so many ways. I started out simply as a Content Creator and I am currently the Editor in Chief for my community. I have so many goals that I want to achieve and Odyssey has given me the platform and the encouragement to do so. I have become a better writer, a harder worker and a leader.

Odyssey has given me some of my greatest friends... yes, seriously!

I actually get to work hand in hand with my roommate and best friend, as she's my Contributing Editor. I also became really close friends with one of the content creators on my staff. If it weren't for her joining my staff, I'm not sure if we would have ever crossed paths. I have also been able to connect with people from all over the country because of Odyssey. I have been a Community Recruiter, am currently an Odyssey Ambassador and an Editor in Chief. I have been put into numerous GroupMe's with individuals who are in the same role as me. We have all gotten to know each other pretty well, despite being spread out throughout the country. They feel like family to me!

Odyssey has taught me how to work with people, even from a distance.

I have worked with numerous Assistant Managing Editors and Managing Editors throughout my time at Odyssey. They have overseen me at different levels. They have all taught me so much. Whether they're showing me cool Google hacks or encouraging me to be a bolder writer, they have always been there for me. They may be in New York, but it feels like I know them on a deeper level. They're not just a person on a screen, I've been able to connect with them and have a real relationship with them.

Odyssey has given me the ability to speak my mind on a major platform.

Odyssey has never limited me when it comes to publishing content. Odyssey encourages me to publish thought-proving content.

The thought of having to leave my community one day truly crushes me. Odyssey has given me so many wonderful opportunities. Even though I have different dreams in life career-wise, Odyssey has always encouraged me to follow my dreams.

Thank you to C.E.O. Evan Burns and all of the amazing Managing Editors and Assistant Managing Editors that I've worked with; Carleigh, Allan, Justina, Dillon, Alissa, and most importantly, to my AME who continuously believes in me, Conor Sheeran.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
