Today was my first day as a grown up. What do I mean by "Grown up?" Well I worked for 8 hours today and let me tell you, I've had a couple jobs here and there but never did I work for 8 hours. (I'm probably gonna say 8 hours a lot because I cant believe how much I worked.)
I woke up gruesomely tired because as someone who just got home from college I can't fall asleep before 2 am. When my alarm went off at 6:50am I almost cried. In reality my mom came and woke me up because I've tried this alarm thing and it doesn't seem to workout for me. I'll set an alarm for 2 hours before I need to get up and snooze it way past when I'm supposed to.
So here I am on my first day of being a "Grown up" having my mom wake me up. But that's besides the point. I found the strength to get out of bed with my eyes still half closed and managed to finish getting ready in just 30 minutes. I then ran downstairs to eat a waffle and drink my coffee. Only to find a dead fly in the coffee since I made it the day before. Wow could my morning get any better?
So now I'm pushing the time and running late trying to chug the coffee because I know that my eyes won't fully open until there's caffeine pumping through my veins. As I'm packing my lunch and brushing my teeth practically at the same time, I manage to leave my house at 8:05. I jump on the highway and to my disbelief (since I thought I was running late) I pull into work at 8:20.
Not knowing if I'm allowed to clock in before my set time I sit in my car jamming to "Work" by Rihanna until just 8:26 when I think I should be okay to clock in. As soon as I walk through the doors I realize I don't even have a time card yet. So now its 8:35 and I basically just lost 5 minutes of pay. (I'm a broke college students...5 minutes adds up)
4 hours later its finally my lunch break. I take my lunch to my car and scarf down food. I'm not used to not being able to eat whenever I wanted and damn was I hungry. Fast forward to another 5 hours and I'm walking out the door with 8 hours and 6 minutes of work under my belt. As exhausted as I was, I needed to hit the gym. Fitness and health don't stop just because you don't have enough time in the day. An hour and a half later later and I'm finally home falling asleep in the shower.
I learned that you may not have enough time in the day for things you used to, and that's okay, it's what being a grown up is about. I'm gonna need at least a month to get used to this.
