My Finals Week Survival Kit

Key words: wine and caffeine.

Just a short list of the few things I can't live without during finals week!

1. Coke

I know soda is bad for you, and I actually was doing a good job not drinking a lot of it this semester, but around finals week I just had to cave. I bought myself a box of 12 last week and I don't regret the decision. Sometimes the cold sugary-ness just gives me that extra burst of energy I need.

2. Dry shampoo

Seriously, when I'm doing finals homework until 4 am the last thing on my mind is a shower. Take a can of dry shampoo & bam, you're presentable (kind of).

3. Wine

Granted, this is a necessity at any given point of the semester, but I really crave it when I have to write papers into the wee hours of the morning. Since I'm a broke college girl, I go for quantity over quality and get the huge $8.00 of Sutterhome. It's such a bargain

4. Hot pockets

Also bad for you. But they're so easy and delicious, and they're perfect to pop in the microwave when you don't have time to cook. My only beef with them is that you can pretty much only get them in packs of two or huge jumbo packs. And the jumbo packs are great but they don't have variety packs so you're looking at like fifteen pepperoni pizza hot pockets when you really want a mixture of ham and cheese, meatball, and pizza.

5. So. Many. Index. Cards.

The only way I can study is by writing things down so I pretty much kill entire forests every semester with the amount of flash cards I use for certain types of tests.

6. Patience from my friends & family

...because I'm the worst at communicating when I have a lot going on. I'll read texts and forget to answer them until the next day, so hopefully no one takes it personally.

7. Sleep

Just kidding.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
