My Family's Christmas Traditions

The holidays are meant for family!

Every family has different traditions around the holidays. Here are some of my favorite family traditions!

1. Decorating My Grandparent's Tree

Every year my family goes over to our grandparents' house to decorate their Christmas tree. No matter how many ornaments Gammy wants on her tree, we know that she loves it when her grandchildren decorate her tree for her.

2. Christmas at My Grandparents

Every year my family and my aunt and her family get together at my grandparents' for family Christmas. I love the time we get to spend together. It doesn't occur often that everyone is all in one place!

3. Coordinating Christmas Pajamas

For my family, we each get to open one present on Christmas Eve. When I was little I thought it was so cool. Now that I've gotten older it's the same every year. Family pajamas...Don't get me wrong, I love new pajamas!! Since I have little siblings I have to act like I have no idea what we are getting (even though most of the time I help pick them out).

4. Reading the Christmas Story as a Family Before Going to Bed

Christmas Eve, we all sit in one area and my dad reads the Christmas story. The book we read is my mom's from when she was a kid. It's nice to turn all the electronics off and just sit as a family and read a book.

5. Waking up and Reading the Story of Jesus's Birth as a Family

When we wake up on Christmas morning, we all go into the kids' room and we read the story from the Bible of Jesus's birth. It is a great way to wake up and remember what the reason for the season is. It's not about the gifts but about Jesus.

6. Opening Presents and spending time with Family On Christmas

After we read the story we all go into the living room and all the presents are in stacks according to the person. We all sit in there and open presents and give presents to people in our family. When we are done opening presents we just enjoy each others company and spend the day together as a family!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
