Fall is my favorite season of the year. It has weather that isn’t too cool but also not too hot. It has Football! It has my favorite holiday, Halloween. The leaves turn a beautiful color of red, orange, and yellow that provide an amazing backdrop to any picture for any event. Everything about Fall is perfect.
Last month, I decided I would make a Fall Bucket List to accomplish this season.
1. Drink Hot Chocolate
Hot Chocolate is amazing. It is basically hot chocolate milk with tiny cute marshmallows. I didn’t become a coffee drinker until this past year but when people would drink coffee, I would be drinking my hot chocolate.
2. Carve a Pumpkin
I always love seeing the pumpkins that are carved to have different facial expressions. I can’t draw. Pumpkin carving doesn’t come easy for me. But, I love when I am able to see the different facial expressions that people come up with for their pumpkins.
3. Buy a Fall Sweater
Nothing feels better than a new warm sweater that keeps the wind chill off your neck. Get you one of those ugly sweaters and make people laugh while you are at it.
4. Jump into a pile of Leaves
I know this is such a kid thing to do, but it’s really fun to have someone rake all the leaves into a huge pile and jump into them. I am not sure why this is fun... There might be ants, dirt, and other things and yet for some reason, it’s a fun thing to do. The best thing is not raking up the leaves afterward. :) Don’t do it when you have to be the one raking the leaves.
5. Watch "Hocus Pocus" / "Practical Magic" / "Halloweentown"
No matter how old I get, I will always love these three movies.
You can’t miss Winnie’s “I smell children” or the witches being scared of water or any of the other humorous things that occur in "Hocus Pocus."
"Practical Magic" is basically a movie about creating the perfect guy and then everything going wrong.
"Halloweentown" is a growing-up movie series. But, the main character finds out she is a witch and that her mom has been hiding it from her. This is a way for her to find out who she is but also figure out her place in life.
6. Watch scary movies
This one is a given for Halloween. It’s just what people do when it’s this time of year. I can’t watch movies like Annabelle, but I can watch Halloween. It’s not my favorite though. I like Amityville Horror.
7. Build and sit by a campfire
Fall weather is chilly and a campfire is the perfect thing to add to the mix to warm yourself out. You can still enjoy nature with a campfire :)
8. Go to a pumpkin patch
Go pick you out a pumpkin and have fun while doing it :) There are just fun fall family-friendly (say that 5 times fast!) activities that you can enjoy while at the pumpkin patch. Petting zoo, hayride, and corn mazes.
9. Visit a Cemetery
I know this sounds creepy but it is actually fun to walk through a cemetery. I don’t believe in ghosts but some people do and that would make it more fun to walk through a cemetery. Go at night; it’s actually cool and creepy... even if you don’t believe in ghosts. Go look at the tombstones and see how long they lived. Go read their epitaphs. See if their grave is ever visited. Just don’t step on their graves. See who the youngest person in the cemetery is and the oldest. See if there are any couples. Make it a scavenger hunt. But, don’t forget a flashlight!
