My Cousin Is Also My Best Friend

Sometimes cousins can be more that just cousins

I was around 4 years old when my cousin was born. I was always around her because I loved babies at the time. I would beg to hold her and feed her. I was just so in love!

Growing up, I feel like I was always the one she looked up to. Whenever I visited my grandma's, she was there and we always played together. We have always been super close from the very beginning.

Over the years, I would always stay at my cousin's house during the summer and we did everything together. We played dress up, we shopped together, and never left each other's side.

Even when my aunt and uncle went to the beach for a work trip, they would invite us to come and we always had a blast because we enjoyed each others company so much! I was able to spend last Christmas with them and it was great as always. We even visited them on Halloween and of course, my cousin and I went trick-or-treating with the family.

Although I have an older brother, I don't have a sister, so having her is literally like having a younger sister. I also know that I can tell her anything! There have been so many times where I have issues with guys and she is always there to tell me what to do.

Even though we are older, we still have so much fun together. Luckily for my cousin, my grandma decided to move closer to her and her family because her other grandkids, including me, grew up. My cousin is now 16, but I think it is so awesome that my grandma wanted to be with her because she was always there for me!

One summer we had a girls trip and we went to Atlanta. It was so much fun! We went to a concert together and we went to the house where The Hunger Games Catching Fire was filmed! It was awesome!

I don't think she knows how much she means to me and that's okay. I just want her to know that I don't know where I'd be without her. She brightens my days sometimes when I am sad. She was there for me when I had brain cancer. She came to all of my appointments and held my hand. She is so much more than my cousin.

Even now we Snapchat and text all the time! She always asks me about dating advice and fashion advice and we still love shopping together.

I try to go visit my grandma whenever I can and she always tries to come over too. We love playing card games. She just got her first car and she has asked me so many questions about it. I love having her in my life.

It's funny because when we are together, we look like twins. Sometimes we'll just say yes because it's cool that people think we are. We both take on our dad's genes.

I am just so lucky to have such wonderful people in my family! I feel so loved and blessed!

I love you so much MJ!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
