My "All The Feels" Playlist

Five songs that give me major goosebumps.

Music has had a major impact on who I am as a person and I'm sure the same can be said for many others, as well. As a lyricist and aspiring songwriter, as well as a poet, I often find myself drawn to songs that have beautifully constructed melodies intertwined with intricately-constructed lyrics. Here is my "all the feels," goosebump-inducing playlist.

"Sarasvati" by Mary Lambert

The arpeggio at the beginning of the song sets its emotion-inducing tone. Coupled with the elegant and almost effortless way that Mary Lambert sings the lyrics, this song honestly made me cry the first time I heard it. The final note of this song always gives me goosebumps because it is just so hauntingly beautiful.

"Gravity" by Sara Bareilles

The first time I heard this song, I instantly stopped what I was doing and I put it on repeat about three times. The soaring bridge of this song is my favorite part and, honestly, the depth of emotion that it portrays in its lyrics just reiterates the fact that this song is perfectly constructed.

"Praying" by Kesha

Honestly, I connect with this song on such a personal level. If you've read my article, titled "An Open Letter to My Teenage Self," then you would know that I've been unlucky enough to have been sexually assaulted in my teenage years. I know that Kesha wrote this song based off of her own assault experience, so I personally connect with the lyrics of the song, from one survivor to another. The beautiful instrumentals of the song, coupled with the powerful and moving lyrics, make the song a definite goosebump-inducing song for me.

"Anyway" by Martina McBride

The lyrics of this song and the way that they are delivered are the reasons why this song gives me "all the feels." The last verse in particular really pulls at my heartstrings.

"Fight Song" by Rachel Platten

The lyrics of this song and it's soaring chorus never fail to give me all of the empowering vibes that I need. "I don't really care if nobody else believes/I've still got a lot of fight left in me" are the lyrics that drive home the song's empowering message, (to me at least).

Hope you enjoyed my playlist of songs that give me "all the feels."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
