5. The Nod Towards Deadpool’s “X-Force” Suit
This Easter Egg comes towards the end of the film after Deadpool gets soot on his suit, making it the iconic gray of his X-Force suit. And since the X-Force team was formed, butchered, and reformed in this film, this suit change couldn’t have been on accident.
4. Deadpool’s Quip About Cable’s Arm
The Deadpool writers aren’t afraid of going after other on screen superheroes, and with the recent Disney investment that finally puts all our favorite Marvel heroes under one roof, a change that happened while making the sequel, it is no surprise that more jabs expanding out of the X-Men universe made it into the franchise. The most obvious nod to this is when Deadpool refers to Cable as a man “with a Winter Soldier’s arm.”
3. Wade Wearing Chunk’s Iconic Hawaiian Shirt
Call it a nod to the iconic 80s flick The Goonies or a joke aimed at Josh Brolin (Cable). Either way this costume choice is my favorite in the franchise so far. All we know it that this confirms that Wade is a fan of the ‘truffle shuffle.’
2. Deadpool’s Jabs Towards the DCEU
Cable’s broody and dark aura he wears throughout the film serves as a great contrast to the silliness of the narrative. Deadpool picks up on this difference as well and quips that Cable would fit better in the DC Universe. And of course he made a jab at Henry Cavill’s CGI mustache removal in Justice League during the Cable Trailer
1. Vanessa’s Role as “Death”
Not so much an Easter Egg as a great use of blending between the established story of the first Deadpool movie and his comic counterpart. After all, Deadpool’s ironic love affair with death kicks off Thanos’ reign of destruction in the ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ comic as the MCU’s main antagonist wants her love as well. I thought this choice of including this storyline, but having Vanessa represent Death in the film installment was very effective and makes the ‘Merc with a Mouth’s’ narrative have an even more dark side underneath.
Although in Vanessa's case, like Peter (arguably one of the greatest MCU characters of all time) Wade goes back in time and saves her life which the writers have confirmed is canon. So for Deadpool 3 who knows?
