Why 'Shameless' Is A Must Watch Show

Most of you have heard of the show Shameless even if it was from seeing it on Facebook somewhere, Twitter, or even Instagram. But for all of you haven't watched it, you need to! Once you start, you can’t stop watching it. It’s the kind of show you get second hand embarrassment from and might have to stop watching for a little while but you will always go back for more. Because yes it is disgusting, weird, embarrassing, and strange but it is also full of love, humor, and reality. It’s so addicting because of all of these things.

It’s realistic. The thing is the show talks about and does some things that we have all thought about, talked about, done, or have been through but we don’t talk about. It covers more than you might have wanted it to; drug abuse, alcoholism, sex, lesbians, gay’s, broken relationships, marriages, illness, school, working, poorness, violence, death, love, scamming, tragedy, aging, and I might have missed a few but it’s because the show covers so much.

Back to the beginning, Shameless is about Frank Gallagher, a single alcoholic, drug abuser, scammer, parent with six children living in his deceased Aunt Ginger’s house but pretending she is alive to cash her social security checks. His oldest daughter Fiona takes care of the children and the house because her father is no help and her mother is nowhere to be found. The show is based off of following the family’s life on how they get through with so little money and there father’s constant schemes. If I haven't convinced you to watch it yet then maybe meeting the characters will convince you a bit.

Meet the Characters:

Frank Gallagher

Frank hasn't gone a whole day without being drunk or high unless he's passed out somewhere (probably in a ditch). He's a crazy alcoholic who is always scheming to get money and he uses his children for leverage.

Fiona Gallagher

Frank's oldest and the one who takes care of the rest of the kids but makes some mistakes along the way and has little sympathy for Frank.

Lip Gallagher

Frank's second oldest-- He gets in his fair share of trouble, dishes out his fair share of sass but he's a genius. Girls are crushing over him everywhere!

\

Ian Gallagher\

Frank's third child and one of the characters of the biggest heart throb in the show which comes shortly after he comes out as gay.

Debbie Gallagher

The softest and sweetest out of all of the Gallagher's but knows when to take care of business getting into many scams with Frank because she can't help but love her father.

Carl Gallagher

The second youngest but the most violent. Carl is always looking for a way to make someone cry or set things on fire.

Liam Gallagher

The youngest and the absolute cutest. You can't help but want to hug him throughout the entire show.

And never forget because the show wouldn't be whole without them-- (next door neighbors, friends but like family)

Veronica

Kev's girlfriend/ wife, Fiona's best friend and second mom to the children. You can't help but love her for her bluntness and sassiness.

Kev

Not the smartest but one of the funniest in this show. Kev owns the Alibi room and is always putting up with the Gallagher's.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
