What if Star Wars Characters were musical instruments? You've never thought about it, but now you are. Your mind is reeling with the possibilities. Why does this matter? Is it the fact you are picturing each character in the typical band setting? Or is it the idea of musical instruments acting out the plot of the beloved films? Read on, and find out for yourself.

1. Darth Vader as the Saxophone

Like Vader, the saxophone is a traitor to what it was intended to be. Darth Vader is a traitor to the Jedi cause, and the saxophone is a woodwind instrument that sounds like a brass instrument. The saxophone generally turns to its dark side, the brass family. Also, like Darth Vader's voice, the saxophone has a deep and rich sound.

2. Han Solo as the Trumpet

The cocky bad boy Han Solo is embodied perfectly by the trumpet. The trumpet's unrefined and overpowering sound can be tamed when playing with others, kind of like Solo is tamed by friends like Luke Skywalker. Well, let's also not forget the trumpet's tendency to play over everyone else, which matches Solo's tendency to want control.

3. Princess Leia as the Clarinet

Leia is confident and strong-willed, which the clarinet exemplifies in it's full and at times dark sound. Now, Leia can be fairly fickle with her men (awkward brother-sister kiss, anyone?) and the clarinet gets this down with its screeching high notes that decide whenever they want to be in tune and reeds that work half the time.

4. R2-D2 and C3PO as the Trombone

These two lovable robots are the comic relief many times in the films and the trombone is easily the comic relief with it's awkward positioning and at times goofy sounds. Also, the robotic pair give a lot of backbone to the store, R2-D2 carrying Leia's plea for help, and C3P0's interpretation of R2-D2's noises. The trombone mirrors this with it's full sound that gives the bass line a good boost and the band an overall foundation.

5. Obi-Wan Kenobi as the Tuba

Obi-Wan is the calm and cool Jedi that brings most parts of the story together, but can never get his full glory thanks to the Skywalker family. The tuba understands this, as the heart of the bass line and the instrument the band is supposed to listen to that never has the melody.

6. The Millennium Falcon as the Percussion Section

Most of the characters ride on the beloved starship through many of the films and the entire band is riding on the percussion section to keep the beat or else everything is going to crash and burn.

7. Chewbacca as the Flute

Chewbacca is a lovable and fluffy character that has a memorable piercing wail. The flute, as well, can make a similar sound when out of tune or when its good friend the piccolo tries to join in. The flute has the lovable and "fluffy" aspect when it plays repeating harmonies of the same two notes for 80 measures in a light and delightful manner.

8. Jar Jar Binks as the Oboe

Jar Jar Binks is one of the most confusing and grating characters in the films. His strange voice matches the oboe's unique sound. As well, the oboe confuses with it's double reed and odd embouchure and it grates when it decides today is the day to squeak every time you go up an octave.

9. Padme Amidala as the French Horn

Sleek and sophisticated, you don’t think Padme’s character is important until she comes in clutch and gives birth to the entire story. The French Horn also seems unimportant until it's missing and everyone realizes that it actually had the melody the whole time.

10. Luke Skywalker as the Bass Clarinet

Luke is loyal, deep and searching. He's the most unlikely of heroes. He bridges the gap between criminal and Jedi master to make a great team of protagonists. The Bass Clarinet, with its deep and rich sound, bridges the gap between low brass and upper woodwind. It goes where it is needed, just as long as it helps the band. Not only that, but like Luke is related to Leia, the Bass Clarinet is related to the Clarinet.

11. Yoda as the Conductor

Yoda is the philosophic, master Jedi that teaches and dedicates his life to all things regarding the force. Philosophical, quirky and invested, the conductor instructs and leads the band to success and dedicates their life to music.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
