Music Review: ADELE

Ms. Adele is back after her four-year hiatus. On November 20, 2015, Adele released her third album with hits such as "Hello," "Remedy," and my favorite "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)." Adele caught up with People Magazine to talk about her hiatus, her life as a mother and wife and to reveal stories behind some of her songs on the album.

People.com wrote a piece on Adele's stories behind her songs. Many songs were dedicated to, or inspired by, her son. Read all about the stories behind the songs many have fallen in love with.

"Send My Love (To Your New Lover)"
Originally titled, "We Ain't Kids Anymore," it's a pop song (Taylor Swift and Britney Spears' hitmaker Max Martin produced it) that still delivers an Adele-worthy punch to a former flame. "I was too strong you weren't trembling/you couldn't handle the hot heat rising."

"Remedy"
Written and recorded in one day with Ryan Tedder, the ballad (which is inspired by her son) was a turning point in the making of "25." As she told Rolling Stone: "When I wrote it, I got my confidence back in my writing 'cause I believed in myself."

"Water Under the Bridge"
The song, inspired by her boyfriend Simon Konecki, is "sort of about a relationship suddenly getting really, really serious and then getting a bit frightened by it," she told Rolling Stone, "and then realizing that 'I think this must be right. This is the relationship that I want to be in for as long as I can possibly be in it.' "

"Million Years Ago"
"I miss the air, I miss my friends/I miss my mother, I miss it when/Life was a party to be thrown/But that was a million years ago," she sings on the nostalgic, last-minute addition she wrote after driving by a park she and her friends hung out in growing up.

"Sweetest Devotion"
A snippet of her son's voice pops up on this ender. "The song is all about my kid," she told USA Today. From mother to child she sings: "There is something about the way you love me/That finally feels like home."

As for her hit single "Hello" Adele has revealed details on the background of the story. In an eonline.com interview, Adele stated, "No, it's not about anyone specifically. It's about friends, ex-boyfriends, it's about myself, it's about my family. It's also about my fans as well. I feel like everyone thinks I'm so far away and I'm not. The song is about hurting someone's feelings, but it's also about trying to stay in touch with myself, which sometimes can be a little bit hard to do. It's about a yearning for the other side of me. When I'm away, I really, really miss my life at home. The way that I feel when I'm not in England is desperation. I can't breathe anywhere else."

"Hello" has been a number one hit on the Billboard charts and many covers have been done by celebrities and fans. On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Adele rendered her song over the beats of classroom instruments. Check the video out below:

Adele, we have missed your sultry vocals and your smash hits and we are happy that you are back to give us the Adele dosage we needed.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
