Before moving to the great city of Atlanta, I had only been to less than a handful of concerts in my lifetime. I came from a small, suburban town that no artist in their right mind would want to step foot in, which meant that live music was not very accessible to me.

Now, I have the privilege of attending numerous events in the city: art galleries, orchestra concerts, carnivals. This year, I decided to splurge and attend one of the biggest festivals available: Music Midtown.

For those who are unaware of what this event entails, Music Midtown is a gigantic festival that features a wide variety of famous and upcoming artists throughout a two day period. I had the pleasure of listening to musicians such as Domenic Fike, Billie Eilish, Travis Scott. It's total chaos, with over fifty-thousand attendants who live across the United States.

With all the commotion of planning out which artists you want to see, finding the perfect outfit, and searching for the best brand of body glitter, it can be easy to forget some of the essential things you should pack for an all-day event. From my experience, I compiled a list of absolute essentials that I was either thankful to bring or devastated to forget.

1. Water

This is a tricky one, since all festivals have different rules about bringing water. For the most part, when you're going to something that's an all-day excursion, you should be able to bring at least one, sealed bottle. If possible, I would consider packing more than that, like two or fifty.

2. Sunscreen

For me, this was an necessity that I unfortunately forgot to take, but it would have been extremely useful in the ninety-five degree heat during Music Midtown. Even if you're not in Hotlanta, better to be safe that burnt.

3. Chapstick

You never realize how quickly your lips dry out until you're outside all day in the blazing sun. I was applying chapstick basically every five minutes, so I truly do not know if I would have survived without it.

4. Portable Charger

Let's face it: if you're at a music festival, you will most likely want to be posting about it all day on your social media. To inform your Instagram followers of the fried dough you just ate, you need to bring your portable. Even if you're planning to keep the day more private, it's best to have your phone charged for your own safety at such a large event.

5. Deodorant

It's natural to sweat during any concert: you're jumping around, you're running from place to place, you're waving your arms in hopes that your favorite artist can see you in the crowd. Even if you don't consider this one to be an essential, the other people around you will be thankful you brought it.

6. Napkins

Someone will spill something on you, or you will spill something on yourself. Whether that's just some water or an entire plate of nachos, it's best to fold a few napkins up and stick it in a pocket of your purse for the inevitable.

7. Tea Bags

This is not for the actual festival, but the day after. Even if you don't think that you screamed a lot, your throat will be sore when you wake up the next day (along with your feet, thighs, and arms), so it's better to take the precautions beforehand and buy it for the morning after.

Even if you forget one (of all) of these, the most important thing to bring is just a good group of friends and an enthusiastic attitude. As long as you have those, you'll most likely have a great time.

Unless you forget water.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
