Working at a movie theater, you get to learn what the different seasons mean for the traffic of the movie theater. I could talk about all of the seasons—but I’m not going to do that. I am here to focus solely on the hottest season of the year, the one that everyone wants to escape the heat during, and the one where everyone wants to watch a new movie so they can tell their friends about it and maybe have a reason to take that really cute girl/guy down the street on a date.
For summer, it means that there will be more movies that appeal to more people and more diversity in ratings. And now enter the teenagers who cannot legally watch Rated R movies. Do you want to watch a Rated R movie? Here is an idea of how you maybe should conduct yourself at a theater if this is your plan.
1. Be very casual when you go to buy tickets at the box office. No one will suspect you if you buy a ticket for a movie that it looks like you would willingly see or seem excited about.
2. Do not walk into the theater and loiter—movie theatre employees always pay more attention to loitering groups of teenagers.
3. Oh, you mean your movie is on the other side of the theatre from the one you have a ticket to? Maybe just watch the movie you paid for? You’re probably interested in it, anyway.
4. If you really want to watch that Rated R movie, just wait for it to be in RedBox or maybe even find a really cool adult who will take you—no questions asked, but please don’t make a theater employee kick you out for being unintelligent.
The best plan you could have for yourself is to go to the theater, buy a ticket for something you want to see (that you can see), and then watch that movie. There is no reason to sneak into a Rated R movie if you are under 17 because you might get caught. You will be 17 eventually, but don’t try to grow up too fast. You might not even be able to drive yet. Maybe stick around at home and play your video games for a while until you turn the right age for the movie you want. But either way, don’t watch a movie that you can’t legally prove you’re allowed to watch. It’ll make your life and my life easier.
