Can we just take a second to talk about how fall really is the best time of the year? Don’t get me wrong, I love a good day at the beach just as much as anyone else. Tanned skin, blue waves, salty air, wavy hair…I could go on. Summer is great and definitely has its perks. Such as going to the park, neighborhood pools being open, going on tropical vacations, etc. But fall stole my heart a long time ago and never gave it back. And I’m not even mad about it. Here are just a few reasons why:
1. Pumpkin EVERYTHING.
I can’t be the only one that likes my entire house to smell like pumpkin and spices. I love to light candles in every room and decorate with pumpkins outside in the yard. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so of course an annual trip to a pumpkin farm in the mountains is a must to find the perfect jack-o-lantern worthy pumpkin. I even go so far as to get pumpkin scented car fresheners. My coffee is pumpkin flavored, and of course pumpkin pie is an absolute must.
2. Fall clothes are the best.
Jeans, boots, sweaters, scarves — ah! I love them all. It’s time to take those clothes from last year out of storage and suddenly it’s like you have a new wardrobe! Layering outfits to stay warm in the cooling air is another one of my favorites. And who has ever said that fall clothes don’t look good on everyone?
3. The beautiful colors.
I’m talking bright orange, red and yellow hues that are only exclusive to this season. I don’t know about you, but where I live the trees turn the most amazing colors during this time of the year. Driving through the mountains in mid-October is one of my favorite things to do — especially with the windows down to feel that crisp, chilled fall air!
4. College football starts.
Living in the south, college football is not only a sport but also a religion for a lot of people. Every Saturday is dedicated to grilling out, tailgating and watching their favorite team play. While the games only last a couple of hours, there is something special about the atmosphere at a tailgate or game that is undeniably there only during the fall.
5. Disney Channel’s “13 Days of Halloween.”
If you don’t look forward to watching Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown and Phantom of the Megaplex every single fall like you haven’t seen them a million times before, then are you even human?
Fall is the best season for a lot more reasons than just these listed. Such as couple costumes, Halloween parties, hot cocoa, cuddling, reading a great book by the fireplace, roasting marshmallows by the bonfire, etc. It’s full of special things and activities that no other part of the year can provide —
no matter where you live. I don’t know about you, but I’m counting down the days. But until then, I can’t wait.
