Whether you've worn out a CD from playing it on repeat too much, or you're just a casual music listener, everyone can appreciate a good concert. Some people just need a little reminder on how to get the most out of their concert experience, and that's where I come in! As evidence shows, music is universal and brings people together.
The best memories many people have are from seeing concerts from when they were little. Who can forget the N*SYNC and Backstreet Boys craze? Concerts are also a great way to introduce people to new artists and genres of music. Some might call it an obsession, while others might call you a crazy concert junkie. However you know better than anyone else, concerts make you feel a part of something so much bigger than yourself. Being surrounded by people that are just as passionate about the music feels amazing. You can listen to a song on your computer, in your car, or watch videos for years, but it will never feel the same as feeling the bass through your chest.
As someone who has been to many concerts, I can tell you that it inspires you to show your passion and live out your dreams. However, you don’t always know what to expect. Each experience brings something new to the table.
So, before you grab your tickets and head out, whether it is across state or across town, read these tips on how to make the most out of your next concert experience. These tips have worked for me in the past, and I wanted to pass them on to all you fellow music-lovers out there. Concert experiences are what you make of them. Hopefully, by the time you’re done reading this, your next concert will be an even more enjoyable one. The most important tip I have is to remember to have fun and really let loose! Rock on!
- Purchasing Tickets: The first step in a great concert experience is to make sure you get your tickets purchased. Look at the layout of the venue and then proceed. Figuring out which seats you will prefer before you're in a scramble to purchase the tickets will benefit you in the long run. For the most popular artists, you may have to act quickly when the tickets first go on sale to get the best seats and prices. VIP is always a great choice!
- Get an early start: Before the day of the concert, figure out how long it will take you to get to the venue. Will there be traffic? How is parking? Is there construction in the area? These are the sorts of things you might want to investigate before hitting the road. Also, make sure someone is bringing directions. The last thing you want to happen is to get lost and miss half of the concert!
- Listen to the Artist's Music: Research! Any concert is better when you are intimately familiar with the artist's music. Consider purchasing CD's or downloading tracks before you go to the show. Most artists don't play shows featuring only the hits; they play their less popular songs too! You'll need to listen to entire albums to be very familiar with what will be played. PS: Artists love when you sing along!
- Memorabilia: Get your memorabilia before the concert if possible to avoid the big lines and crowds afterwards. Things can be pricy, but a poster is always nice to hang on the wall in your room or dorm at college to show off your experience.
Important Things To Remember:
- Cell Phone and/or Camera: In the past, concert venues did not allow recording devices or cameras of any kind. Today, professional recording equipment and cameras are still never allowed. However, don’t listen to the bottom of your ticket when it says no recording or pictures! Everyone uses their cell phones to record or take pictures, they are memories!
- Money: If you want to buy drinks, food, or memorabilia, things can be expensive so make sure you bring enough!
- Permanent Marker: You never know what could happen ;) Always be ready to get autographs or catch things like guitar picks!
- Comfortable shoes: Wear comfy shoes rather than heels!!! Most concert venues have concrete flooring, and most of the time, you end up standing more than sitting. Standing on concrete for many hours is bound to make your feet and legs sore. A pair of comfortable shoes will help.
- JUST HAVE FUN & SING YOUR HEART OUT!
