Although most of us have learned to be responsible while in the presence of alcohol, sometimes our disoriented state causes us to take it a little too far. Decisions made during a night out, whether good or bad, commonly result in a morning-after hangover. Although a hangover is certainly no fun, there are a few little-known tricks which may help to make it a bit more manageable:
1. Fruit Smoothies
Although potentially time-consuming to make, smoothies are always a great idea after a long night of partying. Fruits contain a ton nutrients, some of which you have presumably lost a lot of during the prior evening’s silliness. Especially if you are forced to trek to an early morning class with a hangover, a smoothie will leave you refreshed and hopefully more energized.
2. Waffles (hold the syrup)
Within the realm of fluffy and doughy breakfast foods, I find that waffles are a good go-to meal for the morning after. While they are delicious and flavorful, they’re also pretty light in that they won’t leave your stomach feeling even more uneasy than before. However, try to stay away from syrup!
3. Bacon, Egg and Cheese
Whether you choose to eat it on a roll or a bagel, this glorious combination can’t be topped. Although I don’t know who decided that the collaboration of these three would be so appetizing, I’d like to thank them for curing several of my worst hangovers.
4. Chinese Food
For some crazed college students, the only way to soften the blow of a Saturday morning hangover is to sleep. If you don't plan on waking up any anytime before 2 p.m., breakfast time will have come and gone and you'll likely be starting your day off with lunch. As getting out of bed is hard enough as it is, most of my friends claim that they do it for the only thing that's better than actual Chinese food: the leftovers.
5. Soup
As chewing may lie beyond the extent of your hungover physical capabilities, a bowl of steaming hot soup may be the ultimate remedy to aid your fatigue. While I’d recommend a brand that’s low in sodium, the feeling of warmth on your tongue could be just the trick to regain your stamina.
