Everyday has twenty four hours, for everyone, every year has 365 days, for everyone. How are you going to make the most of 2018? I plan to take advantage of everyday in 2018 and improve on so many things I want to work on in the new year. But what are some key things to think about when trying to maximize each day? Here's some advice,

One of the biggest things for maximizing everyday is effective planning. This means thinking for short term and long term planning from what you are going to do in a few hours to what you are going to do in a few months. Use whatever planning strategy that works for you, what works for me is google calendar and other google programs that allows me to work on my planning from almost anywhere. Use your planning to build into other ideas too, such as your knowledge for how you prepped for one trip can help you shorten up the planning time for another trip.

Another important consideration for maximizing your days is prioritizing your activities that you can do. You are going to run into conflicts, things are going to run over their expected time and you are going to have to make a choice about what is more important to you. This is a difficult thought to consider when their are many factors that go into a decision but if you prioritize ahead of time you can help reduce problems and get the most out of every moment.

A third important piece of advice I can give you is to be prepared for the random or give time for something random to happen. You can't plan everything and sometimes the best things are unplanned so be prepared to let go of the controls and be ready to try something new or do something again. Honestly give into the random and even make some time for something spontaneous to happen.

A fourth piece of advice to consider is to prepare for when you have extra time. Things may get done early or you may have small breaks in your day. Figure out tasks that you can do during this time that allows you to make this extra time useful. I usually use it as a small amount of time to catch up on things that are lower on my priority list and as clean up time for some house keeping.

My final piece of advice I can give as you head into 2018 is to surround yourself by resources and opportunities. This can take so many different shapes especially due to your interests. Just try to keep as many options alive as you can so that you can give yourself a chance at whatever you need to when the time comes. Myself personally I surround myself by resourceful people and this is a huge to my success. Opportunity is an area I am working on as to many opportunities becomes difficult to make decisions and not waste time.

Hope that these small bits of advice come in useful and that you truly live everyday to its fullest. Don't be afraid to look back and reflect on what you did. Sometimes the best things also come from what you already have done. Happy New Year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
