Thank You Mom And Dad

Thank you for everything you do.

Thank You Mom And Dad
Megan Brown

I couldn’t be any more thankful to have the parents I do, and I know many people feel this way. I consider myself lucky, because I grew up with two caring and loving parents who always want what’s best for me. Just like many kids, I didn’t appreciate my parents growing up and would yell at them like most teenage girls do. Now, I could not be any more thankful for everything they have done for me and continue to do day in and out.

Thank you for still loving me, even after I yell at you.

Sometimes I tend to take things out on you guys when I’m upset or mad about something, and I’m sorry for that.

Thank you for picking up the phone when I’m crying.

Sometimes you just need to vent to your parents or ask for advice. I know sometimes it's late at night, so thank you for still picking up...or calling back right away if you don't have your phone on you.

Thank you for loving me even when I make mistakes.

I can’t always be perfect and I know at times I have disappointed you guys but just know I’m always trying to make you both proud.

Thank you for listening to my girl drama and not saying “Told you I didn’t like her” after.

I have had my fair share of girl drama over the years, just like most girls. But you guys knew who my real friends were before I ever did.

Thank you for the way you raised me.

For teaching me right from wrong. For showing me how to be a good person and have a good heart. For teaching me to always help others out, even if they don’t return the favor. For showing me it’s important to have morals and to follow my dreams.

Thank you for all those times you said "no" to teach me a lesson.

At the time, I never understood your reasonings and thought you were just being mean but now I get it.

Thank you for giving me your sense of humor and teaching me to make light of situations.

Okay this one really goes to dad, sorry mom.

Thank you for always pushing me to be my best.

You both always seem to know when I need that extra push and when I need you to just give me a hug and tell me every little thing is going to be alright. I am a better person because of you both.

Thank you for the constant support.

No matter what it is, whether it's grades, a job, sports or anything else, you both are always telling me how proud you are of me. If I feel like my worlds crashing, you guys are always there to pick up the pieces and show me it is not as bad as it seems

Thank you for doing absolutely everything for me.

No matter what, you both always drop everything for me. I do not think I thank you guys enough. From making doctors appointments, to leaving work to take me to the doctor, to fixing my car, to making me food when I'm lazy, to filling my gas tank when I'm broke, to doing my taxes, to buying me groceries for my dorm and so much more.

Thank you for being the parents I constantly look up to. I hope to be half as good of a parent as you guys are when I’m older. Not everyone is as lucky as I am and for that I am forever grateful.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
