I will be the first to admit that my mom is my best friend. No shame. My mom is one of the few people in my life who has known me for my whole life (literally). She knows me better than anybody else and sometimes even better than I know myself. As we are all about to head back to school, my mom is clearly one of the people I am going to be missing the most, as a lot of people will agree with me.
My mom is one of the few people whose opinion I trust completely and value over everyone else's. She is an incredible voice of reason in any girl's life. She will be the first to tell you if you shouldn't wear those shoes with that dress or if that guy is just not right for you. Almost all of the time, a mother's intuition is spot on and she was right about everything.
She is always at the top of my list of people to call with any type of news. Whether it is good or bad news, she will talk through it with me, listen if I'm upset or cheer with me if it is really good news. Moms are always the biggest cheerleaders even when you aren't feeling your best.
My mom is one of the most selfless and kind people I have ever known. She would give someone the shirt off her back and ask for nothing in return. It is one of the qualities I admire most about her and is part of what makes her such a great person and friend to everyone she knows.
A mom is the greatest person to go on adventures with. Whether it be international travel or just a day spent the two of you, your mom is always the greatest companion. She will never judge you when you get hungry (and be prepared with snacks). The memories you make with your mom are ones that you'll cherish for the rest of both of your lives.
She will teach you all of those tough life lessons while still being a great friend and guide in the process. Sometimes you wonder how your mom achieves a mother and friend role so effortlessly and flawlessly. A mom always somehow finds a way to make even the not-so-fun things relatively painless.
One of the most special things about a mother-daughter bond is how you can talk about and laugh about anything for hours on end. It is really special when you and your mom can act like idiots for hours on end and not have a care in the world. The list could go on and on about reasons to love your mom but the bond of friendship between a mother and a daughter is something quite special.
Unfortunately, not all people are very close with their moms. But regardless of whether you and your mom are best friends, moms will always hold a special place in their daughter's heart. I cannot imagine my life without my mom, and I am so grateful to not only call her my mom, but also my best friend.
