SPOILERS TO FOLLOW!
On November 20, 2015, "The Hunger Games" movies came to end with the premiere of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2." After four years, the world was on the edge of their seats while watching heroine Katniss Everdeen (who is played by the one and only Jennifer Lawrence) battle it out to death on Panem's national T.V. and rebel against the Capitol. Also, we watched her pick between Gale (Liam Hemsworth), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) to be her lover.
"Mockingjay Part 2" picked up after Katniss was brutally attacked by Peeta, who was brainwashed by the Capitol. After getting the all clear from the doctors, Katniss decides she wants to be where all the action is. She wants to join the army to take down President Snow, who is a vicious man. District 13's president Coin does not want her at the front line. However, fans realize that whatever Katniss does, President Coin wants to be the one who takes credit. Julianne Moore, who plays Coin, does an amazing job playing the villainous character; if you can call Coin a villain.
As Katniss joins the front line, her group of soldiers take to the underground. There are pods scattered practically all over the Capitol that can kill anyone if someone makes the wrong move. As they go to underground, there are deaths. "The Hunger Games" always brings death to fan favorites. For example, Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) dies after being attacked by Muts when trying to escape the underground of the city. Lawrence's acting was on point during this scene, because she was full of emotion when her character's good friend dies.
Near the end of the movie, President Snow sends out an urgent television message to tell the Capitol's residents to take refuge at his mansion. Katniss and Gale decide to dress in the extravagant clothing that the Capitol's people wear to get to Snow's home to kill him. Fans who have read the novel know that death is about to come once more. A bomb is dropped outside Snow's house and kills many people. Those killed includes Katniss' sister Primrose (Willow Shields). It was heartbreaking watching her die. Katniss finds out that Gale was one of the people behind the bomb being dropped. Obviously, Katniss does not forgive her long-time friend, and tells him goodbye forever.
After the bomb scene, there is a gathering at the Capitol, where Katniss is going to kill Snow. She decides not to kill Snow, but points her arrow at Coin and kills her. Snow is then trampled by people who want her dead. At least both awful characters are gone.
The last two minutes of the movie show the future. Katniss and Peeta are married and have two children. The war is over, and everything is now peaceful.
When novels are made into movie adaptations, the characters continue to live, and fans can keep the series alive for a little longer. As they say, everything must come to end at some point. This is what is happening; the last installment of "The Hunger Games" marks the end of an era.
