7 Reasons Why I Will Always Go On Mission Trips

I was never one who felt like God was calling me to go do His work and spread His grace to people all over. I am too socially awkward and don't like talking to anyone I don't already know. But, mission trips opened my eyes to the greater side of it all. They made me realize that anyone can do it and because of that, I will always go.

They open you up.

Because of going on these trips, I have become a much more social person. I am way more comfortable going out and talking to new people.

I am happier.

Going on these trips and seeing the impacts we have on people, whether they be big or little, impact how you see the world for life.

The trips are bigger than you think.

You go on these trips expecting to change the world, when in reality it changes you. It pulls at parts of your heart you didn't even realize were there.

You get to hear so many diverse stories.

You get to talk to people who have addiction backgrounds, happy backgrounds, backgrounds that include years of suffering.

You gain amazing friends.

You grow so close with the people who are on your trip with you. I have made amazing friends by the trips I have gone on, people I still talk to today.

A major bonus... you get to explore.

I have been able to go to places I never would have any wise, getting to see even more beauty that this world holds. All the culture, all the love people have for their communities, all it has to offer.

You grow closer to God.

I have had my fair share of struggles with my religious relationship. I have had questions, I have had little hope, it's been rough. But, going on these trips has helped me see that I am never alone and has helped me form an unending bond with God.

Mission trips aren't always sunshine and rainbows. They will open up a part of you that you didn't know existed. I have spent hours crying, laughing, and reflecting. They open your eyes to a whole new world, and I will never stop going on them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
