Miley Cyrus stole college girls’ hearts back when we were in elementary school and she graced our TVs as Hannah Montana. Miley was a down-to-earth Disney girl and the daughter of a country music icon. However, soon after Hannah Montana ended and Miley’s fame continued to grow, Miley began to develop into something much different than a young girl in a blonde wig singing “Life’s What You Make It.”

Miley Cyrus was now becoming known as the girl twerking on stage, riding naked on a wrecking ball, or smoking a bong. Miley’s good girl image was no more. Recently, however, with the release of “Malibu," Miley seems to have made it back home to her roots. Dawning a much simpler, country look and having a much more country sound, it seems that Miley’s crazy days are now gone. Personally, I can relate to Miley Cyrus much more than any celebrity because of this, and I think many other college girls would agree.

I can relate to Miley’s wild, wrecking ball days because my first couple years of college were much similar. Although I put on a social media presence that I was still the same, sweet, shy girl I was in high school, I was someone much different. I was going through my wild phase. This phase included many long nights out, an ever-changing and more revealing wardrobe, and a lot of memories I’d love to remember to forget.

While my high school self would have found herself living a life much similar to Hannah Montana – spending my Saturday nights in my room watching movies and gossiping about boys with my best friend, my college self could be found in basements dancing with strangers. I was completing my 180 from the girl I used to be, just like Miley did when she said goodbye to her squeaky-clean Disney image.

Many of my fellow college ladies can relate to this – when we came to college and received all this freedom, it was hard to avoid the party scene and stay squeaky-clean. Some of us knew we’d change while others never imagined it happening, but either way, we’ve all gone (or are still going through) our crazy phase.

When Miley came back to the surface a few weeks ago with “Malibu”, she encompassed a comeback. This is the same kind of comeback many of us college girls go through. Once we’ve realized there’s only so much fun you can find in going to parties, we begin to take a look back at the person we’ve become.

We know that we are nothing like we used to be. We soon find ourselves saying no thank you to Thirsty Thursdays, to crop top and skinny jeans, to full faces of makeup and vodka shots. We begin to see the real reason we came to college was not to party, rather, to get an education.

And while there is nothing wrong with going through a party phase (let’s face it – we all do it), coming back to our roots is crucial. Miley’s “Malibu” comeback shows us all that no matter how far off track we get, no matter how far from our roots life throws us, we can always and will always find our way back home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
