With the end of 2015 quickly approaching, it is easy to look back at only the bad moments of the past year. We have all experienced some sort of pain during the last twelve months, and it can be difficult to look past the bad and see the good in the year.
I want to make sure that 2015 is remembered for its best moments. Babies were born, couples got married, people fell in love, and many other wonderful things occurred, and these pieces shouldn’t be left out as we reflect upon the past year. I asked twenty people what their best memory of the year was, and here are the responses.
- “I started school at Notre Dame!”
- “I stopped caring so much about things that don’t matter.”
- “I met Adam Sandler. Twice!”
- “Graduation night, because all of my closest family members and friends were there to celebrate 13 years of really, really hard work.”
- “I finished my first year of college.”
- “I got to see my girlfriend in a professional musical in New Hampshire.”
- “Starting college was the best thing ever.”
- “Moving into a six-chick with my roommates, hanging out with my choir friends more, becoming an English major, and still being at Notre Dame.”
- “I finally put myself out of my comfort zone, which took me to London and Paris. It scared me, but I followed through and had a great time.”
- “I was able to buy a house that I’ve wanted since I was a child.”
- “I got my first internship.”
- “I fell in love!”
- “I learned that no matter what happens, I’ll always be able to survive, even when life doesn’t turn out how I plan.”
- “I went to Greece!”
- “I went on tour with Glee Club.”
- “I got a new cello.”
- “I got a job.”
- I went on vacation with my family and got to see my brother, who I haven’t seen in two years. It was the first time the family was all together in a while.”
- “I started singing in the Notre Dame Folk Choir.”
- “2015 was just a really good year.”
2015 was a year of ups and downs, good memories and bad. It’s important to remember that even though you might be experiencing sorrow right now, there is always hope, and there is always something good on the horizon. Farewell to 2015, and here’s to hoping for a year full of joy.
