As Memorial Day comes to an end, we head back to reality, facing the fact that we do indeed have work tomorrow. While the weekend was nice, giving us a little extra time with our loved ones, it seems the relaxation of the long weekend always overshadows the true meaning behind why we have this specific Monday off. It made me think, not all families are as fortunate as I am to have all the ones they love around them. Memorial Day made me recognize the brave men and women who willingly sacrificed their own lives, so we all can live freely. They deserve more than one day to be remembered for their tremendous sacrifice. I believe we forget sometimes that freedom has a price, and Memorial Day is a great reminder of that price and those it affects.
Thank you to the military families, not only for being incredibly strong but for your sacrifice as well. You allow someone you love to go off and fight for a cause you both believe in, with the chance you might not ever see them again. While we might not express our gratitude for you as much as we should, know that as Americans we are deeply thankful for all you do. Thank you to those who are serving currently, know that there are no words that I can say to fully express my deepest gratitude for your service and sacrifice. Most importantly, thank you to the fallen. I hope you know that while you are no longer on this earth, your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thank you for being brave, fighting for what you believed in, and for keeping our great country free.
I hope one day, we may find peace and no longer have to send the ones we love off to war. Until that day comes, we will continue to support those who do serve this great country and their families as well. From one patriot to the next, thank you for your service. May God bless every single one of you, for all you have done for the American people today and every day.
