Meet the Reporter: Valeria Rodriguez

My name is Valeria Rodriguez, and I am a reporter for Arizona State University Odyssey, and I'm a Sophomore majoring in Journalism, with a focus on Bilingual Broadcast. I plan on working as a Bilingual Broadcaster/ Reporter and hope one day I am able to work at Telemundo or Univision in a top 20 market.

A little about me is, I am from El Paso, Texas which I am very proud of. Aside from being a writer at the Odyssey, I am a Devils Advocate for the Downtown camps at ASU where I give campus tours to potential Sun Devils.

I love being able to expand my horizons and try new things. Especially finding new local coffee shops. I'm very excited about what ASU has left to offer, and the connections I will be able to make. Get to know all of our reporters by reading their monthly "Meet the Reporter!"

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
