For college students, winter break is a long-awaited reprieve after the insanity of Finals Week. Though initially, a month away from your college seems like a lengthy amount of time, it truly isn't. Here is how to make the most of your winter break, because before you know it, these 30 days will have passed and spring semester will be upon us!

1. Catch up with family and friends.

Obviously, the most important thing to do during winter break is to catch up with family and friends that you haven't gotten to see in recent days! This can be as simple as watching a hockey game on TV with your dad or getting a cup of coffee with your hometown best friend at your favorite diner. One suggestion for a fun way to catch up with friends is to host a holiday cookie exchange...where everyone bakes their favorite Christmas cookie and enjoys them together!

2. Take some time for you.

You deserve it! After spending the last few weeks at college stressed and overwhelmed because of irritating group projects, essays, and exams, you deserve to relax a bit. Catch up on your favorite Netflix show or re-read your favorite book.

3. Give something new a try.

Have you been wanting to try yoga? Pilates? Or did you find a delicious cookie recipe on Pinterest you've been waiting to try your hand at? Well, now's the time to do it! No obligations = plenty of time to try something new.

4. Enjoy seasonal activities with some of your hometown best friends.

'Tis the season for making holiday cookies, watching cheesy (but adorable) Hallmark movies, and going ice skating. Maybe even try your hand at skiing! Embrace these activities while spending some quality time with your friends this break!

5. Work a little, but rest a lot.

When I come home from winter break, I am always so tempted to take on many hours at work. However, you just worked so hard during the semester, so why work yourself even harder? Yes, take on some hours at your job, but no, don't work every single day for 8.5 hours a day.

6. A winter road trip.

Is there a place you've been wanting to visit in the wintertime, such as a tree farm or a skiing mountain? Give it a go this winter break!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
