Makeup That Won’t Wear Away in the Summer Sun

Makeup That Won’t Wear Away in the Summer Sun

Sunshine. Pool days. Tan lines. All these are the great things about the summertime. Along with them comes heat and humidity, which leads to all of that gorgeous makeup you applied in the morning dripping down your face. No one likes the way this ooey-gooey mess feels, or looks.

To help you keep your face looking fresh all day long, I have a few tips.

1. Primer, primer, primer. Primer is, typically, the most forgotten step of the makeup application process. Primer is put on after moisturizer and before foundation. The purpose of primer is to give the skin a smooth starting surface and to help keep makeup in place. It is also great because it will even out any discoloration and many times will help prevent shine, which we all know happens when we are standing outside in 100 degree heat, watching a football game.

2. A little goes a long way. Caky makeup does not look good on anyone. You end up looking fake and chalky so, please, ladies -- just don't do it! The more you put on, the more it will drip off with your sweat. It does not take a lot of foundation to make your skin look flawless and toned. All you need is a few drops and a small makeup sponge to create a finished look that won’t wash away.

3. Lip color that lasts no matter what you do. This is one of the only times I will ever recommend a specific product, but this lip ink will change your life for the better. LIP INK International creates an all natural, organic, waterproof, smear proof and 24-hour color, guaranteed product. My favorite color is Valentine Pink. What is also great about this product is that you can get a free trial to test out it out and see for yourself just how awesome it is. If you decide not to choose this product, be sure to pick a product that has SPF and is waxless to prevent sunburn.

4. Eyes can tell your entire story. To keep your eyes looking fresh I recommend using waterproof mascara and creamy light shadows. The waterproof mascara won’t run down your face when the sweat begins to drip and will prevent that "I just cried my eyes out" look. The purpose of the cream based eye shadow is to provide a thicker texture compared to powder. When you sweat, the powder shadows will just mix in and start to create a thick, gross clump on your eyelids. The cream shadows won’t cake as much in the warmth and tend to lock color in place better then powders. Light colors are great because it can give your eyes an added sparkle in the sunlight. Summertime isn’t about a smokey eye; it is about rocking natural tones that bring out your inner beauty.

5. Setting spray. Setting spray is one of the coolest items ever for anyone who lives where it gets really hot. It just acts like hairspray, but for your makeup. It is the last step after you finished applying all your makeup and are ready to go. It keeps everything in place and looking fresh.

6. Powder? Instead of using powder, when you begin to sweat and see shine marks on your face, try and blot instead. I think almost every sorority recommends using oil absorbing sheets during recruitment. I know everyone in my chapter had some in their plastic bag to freshen up between rounds. They fit easily in your purse and will help you to look great in any photos taken throughout the day.

At times, it may seem impossible to look great when the sun is pounding down on you. These six tips will help you feel confident, regardless of the temperature or humidity level. No matter what, be confident in how you look and present yourself because nothing is more beautiful then a woman who believes in herself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
