Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to express your love for your partner, so why not go all out this year to show them just how much you appreciate them? Whilst few people would actually turn away a simple box of chocolates, there are so many other things you can do to make this special day more memorable. Here’s five super romantic ideas for Valentine’s Day…

Plan a surprise treasure hunt

A romantic treasure hunt is guaranteed to set the stage for a night to remember. Use your imagination when laying the clues. You could set the table and leave the first clue on his plate or send her a sexy text with a clue to where to find you when they get home. It’ll lead your lover on an intriguing journey that’s packed with fun and anticipation…

Enjoy a meal in a top restaurant

Eating out in a top restaurant is probably the most common date idea for Valentines in NYC, but there’s a good reason why! It’s super romantic and provides the perfect chance for you and your partner to spend some intimate time together, chatting and flirting like you did when you first starting dating. Plus, you’ll get to eat fantastic food, which is always a bonus. Top tip: don’t bring the kids. Valentine’s Day should be the one day of the year you get to be alone with your partner, so book a babysitter for the night!

Book a hotel room for a night away

Getting away from your everyday surroundings and checking into a sumptuous hotel suite complete with all your creature comforts is the ideal way to spend Valentine’s Day. Think champagne on ice, room service and an inviting bubble bath. Oh, and make sure to put the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door! Holing yourselves up in a lavish hotel room is a great way to unwind, relax and spend quality time together.

Take a dance class together

Look for a dance class for beginners in a style of dance that you know your partner will love. Try salsa, swing or even the waltz! You can expect lots of fun, laughter and the chance to create more shared memories together. It’s a good idea to call the studio beforehand to make sure they have enough room in the class and that they accommodate you.

Head to the very top of the Empire State Building

What could be more romantic than standing at the top of the Empire State building with the one you love and admiring the magic of NYC down below? The "Cathedral of the Skies” is the city’s most iconic landmark and even King Kong brought a date up here, so why not do the same?! It’s sure to be an event you’ll both remember for a long time to come.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
