The New Year is upon us and you know what that means. An endless supply of jokes consisting of "I haven't seen you since last year", "I have not showered since last year.", and new years resolutions. I can guess you are probably cringing at those last three words. You have probably heard enough about them in the last hour, and chances are, you have already been asked about them twice today.

There are a handful of reactions you could have about new years resolutions. Are you the type of person to make them and never follow through with them? Maybe you are the one who does not even bother to make them, or you could be a part of the 8% who follows through with their resolutions.

There are also plenty of resolutions to make for this upcoming year. You can set a goal to get in shape, save up your money, give up something that is bad for you, or work on a smaller personal goal.

My advice for your new years resolution is to make 2018 your bitch. This year, do not set unrealistic resolutions you are never going to accomplish and do not set tiny ones that you do not even need to pay attention to in order to accomplish it. Making 2018 your bitch can be the hardest yet simplest new years resolution to make.

This year should be the year that when it comes to December and you are thinking about resolutions for 2019, you can not think of anything. Live your life to the fullest, and aspire to be a better you. Do all of the things you have been dying to do without the regretting of having done them. Make your day to day life seem like something you would dream about, as if it were out of a magazine. I don't mean you have to have everything together, but it should be the year where people are whispering to each other about how you have your life together.

Take some time to focus on yourself. Find out exactly what you need to do to become a better person. There is always room for improvement, and it doesn't always have to be on the physical aspect. Some people are going to have the resolution to loose weight, and I'm not saying you can't have that as a resolution.

Work out, hit they gym, and shred those pounds. But this year, loose your baggage. Look at yourself and think about what you want to leave behind in 2017. Do you have toxic friendships? Ditch them. Now you've conquered your resolution of loosing weight by loosing a whole person.

Maybe you spent 2017 focusing on the petty side of your personality. Take this next year to mature and let go of those grudges. Spend your time trying to be a little less selfish, less egotistical, more outgoing, more of an optimist, and whatever you need to do to better yourself.

At the end of the year, you should be able to look back at all of the fun times you had. You'll be able to reminisce on those days you took charge, or held back, and all of the times you didn't regret being you.

One of the best choices you can make, is to make 2018 your bitch and you can thank me for it later.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
