20 Empowering Lyrics Every College Girl Needs To Hear
Lexi Crider

As a college woman, things can get pretty damn crazy. Our lives are constantly being thrown in different directions whether that be with our friend groups, being homesick, dealing with the guys... the list can go on FOREVER.

However, something that always seems to stay a constant in our lives is music from empowering women. It's something that becomes tattooed on our brains and can relate to any problem, or situation, that we're in. Bursting out my favorite lyrics has become somewhat of a coping mechanism for myself, and I thought I'd take this time to share with you some of my Lyrics To Live By based on today's top hits and a few throwbacks.

1. "Obsessed" // Mariah Carey

"Finally found a girl you couldn't impress/ Last man on the earth still couldn't get this"

2. "Too Little Too Late" // JoJo

"I'm letting you go/ I'm loving myself"

3. "Ain’t Your Mama" // Jennifer Lopez

“When did you get too comfortable?/ Cause I’m too good for that”

4. "Most Girls" // Hailee Steinfeld

"But it's okay if you wanna change the body that you came in/ 'Cause you look your greatest when you feel like a damn queen"

5. "Feeling Myself" // Nicki Minaj ft. Beyoncé

"Male or female, it make no difference/ I stop the world, world stop..."

6. "Road Less Traveled" // Lauren Alaina

"History gets made when you're acting a fool"

7. "Be Alright" // Kehlani

“Yes I might get wet, I might get thrown/ But I’ll resurface all on my own”

8. "Stand Up" // Jessie J

"If you spend every day wishing for the next to come/ Aged and lifeless is what, yes, you'll become, yeah"

9. "Run the World (Girls) // Beyoncé

"Strong enough to bear the children/ Then get back to business"

10. "Fighter" // Christina Aguilera

"Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture/ I wouldn't know how to be this way now and never back down"

11. "G.N.O. (Girl's Night Out)" // Miley Cyrus

" 'Cause it's a girl's night/ It's alright without you"

12. "Lucky Ones" // Lana Del Rey

"You know that we'll never leave if we don't get out now"

13. "Keep Holding On" // Avril Lavigne

"There's no other way when it comes to the truth/ So keep holding on"

14. "Angel" // Fifth Harmony

"Open your eyes, I'm more brilliant than you'll ever be/ Who said I was an angel?"

15. "Survivor" // Destiny's Child

"Thought I'd fail without you/ But I'm on top"

16. "Really Don't Care" // Demi Lovato

"Now if we meet out on the street, I won't be running scared/ I'll walk right up to you and put one finger in the air"

17. "NO" // Meghan Trainer

"If I want a man, then I'mma get a man/ But it's never my priority"

18. "No Scrubs" // TLC

"A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me"

19. "I'm Out" // Ciara ft. Nicki Minaj

"I just went through a break up (Ooh yeah-yeah-yeah)/ But it's okay, I got my cake up (Ooh yeah-yeah-yeah)"

20. "Woman" // Kesha

"I'm a mother*** woman, baby, alright/ I don't need a man to be holding me too tight"

So ladies, just remember that you don't need him, you're beautiful, and it's okay to have some fun without a man. If you ever need that little reminder, just give these songs a quick listen, and you'll feel it.

(Also, makes a great getting ready with your girls playlist!)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
