My favorite past time when I come home to Virginia Beach is meeting up with friends for lunch. For as long as I remember I have felt that lunch has been the underdog of meals. It is the meal you often find yourself packing for your day at work or school. To inspire your next mid-day meal to be more fun than just a packed peanut butter and jelly, I have compiled six incredible places to go out to eat in Virginia Beach.

1. Commune

Your local farm to table restaurant. At Commune, it is always local, all the time. If you love fresh food, this is your place to grab a bite to eat for lunch. Not only is the food good, but if you love to photograph your food, Commune has the best food for the best plate ascetic pictures.

Location:

501 Virginia Beach Blvd

Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Friday - Sunday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

2. Bay Local Eatery

Bay Local is the place for you if you want brunch instead of lunch. While Bay Local is all about brunch (with dinner served Thursday, Friday, Saturday at the shore drive location) and this article is about lunch, Bay Local's food is just too good not to make its way onto this list. I will leave it up to the picture to get your mouth watering and get you on your way to Bay Local.

Location:

2917 Shore Drive

972 A Laskin Rd

Hours:

7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

5:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Shore Drive Location; Thursday- Saturday Only)

3. Gringos Taqueria

Gringos is known for their fish tacos. I can attest that their fish tacos are incredible, but if you want to try something else check out their bowl options. Their bowls are way better than Chipotle's. My go-to is a chicken bowl. The ingredients are so fresh and so filling.

Location:

612 Norfolk Ave

Hours:

Tuesday - Thursday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Friday - Saturday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Closed Sunday and Monday

4. Pelon's Baja Grill

Looking for California style Mexican food? Pelon's is your place. All their food is delicious, however, I'd always suggest getting chips and queso with your meal. Their queso is the best I have ever had.

Location:

3619 Pacific Ave

Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Friday: 11: 00 AM - 12:00 AM

Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Sunday: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

5. Zeke's Beans & Bowls

Want to hop on the smoothie bowl or the Hawaiian poke bowl trend? Head over to Zeke's Beans & Bowls for some of the best smoothie bowls and poke bowls in town. I highly recommend the South Western Poke Bowl with white rice.

Location:

616 Norfolk Ave

Hours:

Sunday- Thursday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM

Friday - Saturday: 8:00 Am - 10:00 PM

6. Taste Unlimited

Taste, as it is known by it is locals, is the most beloved lunch spot in all of Virginia Beach. When you go try one of their classics: a Hilltop or a Northender. If you are at the beach and don't want to leave; check out the oceanfront store's dune delivery options. Taste Unlimited has multiple locations: Hilltop, Bayville, Larchormount, Ocean Front, City Center, Habour View, and two soon to be locations: Richmond and Ghent.

Hours: May vary based on the location you choose

These are the best of the beach and bay area in our beloved city. Get out and eat some lunch. Make lunch the best part of your day and head over to one of these places to eat.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
