Lucky 7 Reasons Lock Haven Rocks

Lock Haven and Lock Haven University are both amazing places to go, and they both share something pretty great — a small community life. In this list we're going to look at why Lock Haven rocks so much:

1. A small community

Both Lock Haven and Lock Haven University offer people a small community where everyone knows each other. Both also feature some of the nicest people around. If you walk through town in Lock Haven, say hi, don't be shy! If you're walking around the LHU campus, say hi! You'll make friends quickly!

2. Both are extremely beautiful

Lock Haven and LHU work hard to keep everything beautiful. There are so many different trees and flowers around the town, and this makes for lots of color and beautiful sites to look at. LHU does the same, and there are landscapers all over campus who break their backs to keep the LHU campus looking beautiful. At the end of the spring semester and beginning of the fall semester, people are all over campus enjoying the nicer days outside!

3. The Susquehanna is right near Lock Haven!

Lock Haven is a small mountain town but it happens to be right next to the Susquehanna River. In the past, the city had some big trouble with flooding so they built a levee or a dike. This kept the flooding away and gave all the townies and college students somewhere to jog, walk and be one with nature, and it is beautiful up there!

4. LHU offers a lot of opportunities for one on one time with your professors

One of my favorite things about The Haven is the ability to really get to know your professors. In bigger universities, this opportunity is lost or not as easy because the professors teach huge classes. You become another face in the sea of people. At The Haven, though, your professors know you by your face and name and a lot of times, they'll know you by face first.

5. Lock Haven is a mountain city so there's lots of outdoor activities to do

Lock Haven rocks because it gives townies and college students the ability to do so much outdoors. It's great for exercise, and it lets us enjoy Earth's natural beauties. People in Lock Haven don't have to go far to camp, can go fishing, hike through the numerous trails, jog right along the Susquehanna and so much more!

6. Lock Haven University has over 100 clubs!

LHU prides itself on having a variety in clubs. Students can really benefit from all these different clubs because there's something for everyone. Clubs are perfect for interacting with new people and finding similar interests as well as further learning the skills necessary for a successful future. Not to mention, great team building and communication skills can be learned! If someone can't find a club that matches their interest, they can always make one, too!

7. Cheap and affordable movie theater!

If beauty, opportunity, and lots of activities don't make you feel like Lock Haven rocks, then the Roxy Movie Theater will. The Roxy is a small movie theater with three screens. Tickets there are $6 for everyone, except students who can get a discounted ticket for $5. The Roxy also offers 3D movies and those are $8. This makes for a pleasurable movie-going experience, especially for those on a small budget like college students are. Almost everyone loves movies, and this is just one of the many things making Lock Haven rock as much as it does!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
