Yes, You Can Love College And Feel Homesick At The Same Time
Filippo Ascione

College is a wonderful place filled with opportunity, freedom, and fun. It is also where people go to better themselves through education. Along the way, you meet lifelong friends and get to participate in activities all over campus. College is amazing, but in time, you might start to get homesick.

There are days throughout the semester you can use to go home for a short period of time, however, you may find yourself wanting to leave home to go back to college.

It is perfectly OK to love being at college and to want to go home at the same time.

Most college students had to leave their homes to attend college. Some college students are lucky enough to live in the same town as their university, however, there are other students who had to come a long way. Whether you come from a whole other state or the same town, everyone gets homesick. When you arrive at the beginning of the semester, you’re ready to be away from home. You’re excited about all the possibilities that await you.

Towards the middle of the semester, you start getting homesick. You start to miss your own bed, your own room, homecooked meals, and even your pets. Even though you may be homesick, there’s also a lot of good things you’d miss if you went home.

Being away from your family and hometown friends can also get difficult. Even though you’ve made so many wonderful new friends at college, they aren’t the same as the ones back home. You’ll want to go home and hang out with your friends, but your family is what you’ll miss the most. You’ll miss how your parents are always there to nag you about something or embarrass you. If you have siblings you’ll miss them annoying you all the time, and the fights you have with them. You’ll miss family game night, trips to the movies, and Saturday morning cartoons.

Being away from your family is the hardest thing about going away for college. You’ll miss everyone back in your hometown, but you’ll also miss people from your college life. There’s no one to replace your family, however, you have tons of wonderful friends at college that are there for you.

You can be home and want to go back to college, or you could be at college and want to go home. You can miss home, your friends, and your family and still love every minute you’re at college because they’re two different experiences. At home, you’re your parents’ child but at college, you’re completely different. You’re an adult with your own life and your own experiences. You have way more freedom than you do at home. However, that freedom comes with many responsibilities that can become tiring. You’ll want to go home to lessen your load and relax a little, but once you’re at home and rested, you’ll be eager to get back to college. You can love college and be homesick because they can coexist. You don’t have to pick a certain way to feel about it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
