I'm lucky to be able to be a part of a church that not only cares about the people inside of its doors, but that works just as hard to be the hands and feet of Christ to those outside of the church who are working to make this city a better place.
LOVE week has become a favorite week to those of us who call Elevation Church our home. It has also become a favorite week to Charlotte and it's surrounding areas. Here's why.
In just one week, over 100 non profits are reached, over 10,000 volunteers are giving their time, and tens of thousands of hours are being served to those who need it most. This is an incredible week. It is an amazing, unique, and truly powerful seven days.
Here's the deal: Serving is awesome. But it's even more awesome when we serve people in the name of Jesus. When we take time out of our busy schedules and decide to make a difference in our world in the name of Christ, supernatural things can and will happen. This week we are giving to this city the two best things we have to offer -- time and love.
In light of all of the horrible things going on in our world today, isn't this the most perfect time to be going out in our communities and showing people the difference that the church can make?
LOVE week is all about the church deciding to show people Jesus instead of just telling them. It's about building communities within our communities and humbling ourselves before the Lord to do the work He has called us to do by partnering with some of the best organizations in the country (okay, I may be a bit biased on that, but I don't care. I stand by it).
If you haven't had a chance to participate yet, click the link below, sign up, and get out there to love the hurting people in this city who need the love of Jesus. You never know how God will use you when you decide to step out and just do something as simple as pack a backpack, or serve a meal.
P.S. You'll also get a really cool free T-shirt, and while that's really not important, let's be honest, it doesn't hurt.
