A Letter To My Mom

Mom,

I want to thank you for everything that you do. I understand that most of your actions go unnoticed, but they help all of us in so many ways. Although you may feel unappreciated at times and stressed, know that we love you. I now understand why you do the things that you do. It is because you care about us, worry about us, and support us. You barely have enough time to take care of yourself after you help all of us.That just proves how much of a wonderful person you are. It takes a special person to be a mother. It requires patience, understanding, tolerance, and acceptance.

I have noticed over the years that you are sneaky about how you get information out of my siblings and I. You will ask us questions to things you already know about us. If we try to lie, you quickly inform us that you already know the truth. So to whomever your source is, thanks for keeping my mom updated.

Although I might not keep up with you daily, I still care about you. I wonder what you and dad are doing and how your day was. I know you worry about my safety, and if I am even alive. Thanks to social media you see that I am doing just fine, even though I do not have enough time to post my own updates. It makes me happy when I see that you like one of my pictures or post that I am tagged in. Thank you for also not questioning those post and pictures. (It's probably too hard to explain.)

I know that you have a lot on your plate. Between our family, work, and everything else going on in your life; and you can get stressed. But thank you for always being my confidant. I know that no matter what you are going through, you always have time to listen to my problems. Although, I might not listen to your advice immediately, I tend to follow it at some point.

Thank you for your continued support. I understand how much stress I get myself into, and I can only imagine what it puts you through. You are my number one supporter. You are there when I fail and push me to keep going. You put your own dreams on the back burner while you help us reach ours. You are always looking out for my safety, but give me the distance I need.

Thank you for having patience with everything that I do. Even when I do not listen to you the first time. Thank you for understanding that I think I am always right. Thank you for tolerating the ridiculous and crazy things that happen on a daily basis. But most importantly, thank you for accepting me. You accept not only my accomplishments, but also my failures. You accept all of us for who we are, and strive to see us accomplish our goals.

It takes a special person to not just be a mom, but to take on the role whole hardheartedly. The ability to love all of us, and raise us into the people we are today is not a simple task. I know that we do not always make your life easy, but we definitely keep it entertaining.

I love you mom!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
