Why Travel Will Forever Own My Heart
Anna Evseev

I've always been drawn towards traveling because of the excitement and energy that manifests within me. Throughout my life so far I've had the privilege to visit many different countries and states in the United States. I've been to Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Italy, and most recently I visited the Caribbean.

While in the Caribbean, I went to St. Thomas, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and The Dominican Republic. Each new country that I visit opens my heart and my mind to that place and makes me want to know everything about it. Traveling is something that I want to be doing until the day I die, and I know that I want to be able to visit every country in the world at least once. Each and every country has a history and an important place in the world.

It's ironic that I hate going on planes, yet I love the rush that I feel at the prospect of going somewhere new. When we get into the air for the first few seconds I feel as if I'm dreaming, it's a truly amazing feeling. The fact that through planes we're able to fly anywhere in the world is a great feeling. In my life, I don't always want to be stagnant and in one place, I want to be exploring... Discovering... Looking through the lens of a whole new world.

Whenever I go to a new place, I always want to try the cities' ethnic foods, see the sites, buy a snow globe, and to be able to walk around the cities that aren't as touristy.

During my most recent vacation, I got to do new things and learned a lot about myself. I went Snorkeling and saw beautiful fish in St. Thomas, saw alligators and crocodiles in Florida, went to Universal Studios in Orlando, went to a Rainforest in Puerto Rico, and many different beaches along the way.

A couple of things I discovered about myself are I love the thrill of adventure and I'm totally okay with not sleeping that much in order to see all that I can possibly see. I practically slept about 4-5 hours every night while on my trip, but I have absolutely no regrets. I had the most amazing time of my life. I know that I am someone who loves traveling and will never lose that energetic fire within me, pushing me to go here, there, and everywhere.

Who knows where my next adventure will be, but I know wherever it'll be... It'll be amazing!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
