6 Love Songs That Will Make You Feel EXTRA Emo

In This Article:

The romantic within is flourishing, because this week I'll be sharing with you my six favorite love songs of all-time.

Who doesn't love a good existential cry when you're wondering whether or not you'll ever find someone to love? When listening to these songs, I feel EVERY emotion. Turn up the speaker, sit down, relax and get ready to be an emotional wreck.

1. "Feeling Whitney" by Post Malone

It was a cold, winter's afternoon when I first heard this beautiful song from Post Malone. In the bus and tired from a long day of sitting in lecture after lecture, this song came on. If I'm being honest, I almost cried because, with just a guitar and Post Malone's voice, this song is utterly beautiful. Post Malone, an artist known for creating music that'll get you hype before a night out, made this emotion-inducing song. If you haven't heard "Feeling Whitney," please listen to it now.

2. "1+1" by Beyoncé

OMG, I had the opportunity to hear the Queen B perform this song live and it made my life. Beyoncé's vocals are stunning as it is, but, with the lyrics of this song, her vocal abilities show. When Beyoncé sang, "I don't know much about Algebra but I know one plus one equals two," I really felt that. Beyoncé is a tremendous vocalist and proves it with this song.

3. "This Town" By Niall Horan

I've been a One Direction fan since the ripe age of 13-years-old, and Niall Horan outdid himself with this beautiful song. This song makes me cry every time I listen to, because it's just so pure. With the guitar and his heartfelt lyrics, "This Town" makes my heart feel warm. You know that feeling of contentedness? That's how I feel when I listen to this song.

4. "All I Ask" by Adele

Adele, the queen of love songs with her beautiful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, tops them all. I remember listening to this song in a class full of people and attempting to hold back tears. The lyrics in "All I Ask" will make you emotional, as well.

5. "Fool For You" by Snoh Aalegra

I heard this song while watching "Insecure" a couple weeks ago and I had to find out what it was called. Snoh Aalegra has a unique voice that pierces through your ears. "Fool For You" is a modern love song that has been on repeat for the last week.

6. "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James

Last but not least, one of my all-time favorite songs. Etta James, the queen (rest in peace), but this song cuts at your heart. I remember listening to "I'd Rather Go Blind" at thirteen-years-old when my crush didn't like me back. Even though that crush lasted for a month, the lyrics in "I'd Rather Go Blind" was everything I thought I was feeling at the time and can still resonate with me today. "I'd Rather Go Blind" will always be a song I could never of.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
