The day I found you, I knew I had found a piece of my heart.

Ever since that day, we have been inseparable. We are the ultimate BFF goals. I did not know at the time that one dog could make my heart feel more love than any human ever could until I held you as a little 10-pound German Shepherd who looked at me with the sweetest brown eyes.

Thank you for being there with me on the worst days of my life, always offering a smile and a super-excited tail wag.

Thank you for always being excited to see me, whether I have been gone 10 minutes or even if I have left you at the vet's office for a week while on vacation. You are always excited to see me.

Thank you for always thinking of me as your personal couch to sprawl out on no matter how big you get.

Thank you for never getting mad at me when I am ill with you for getting dirt on my clothes.

You are truly the best dog I could have ever imagined, and if everyone was as happy, carefree and loving as you, this world would be a much better place.

Everyone who knows me knows exactly how obsessed with you I am. If they knew you, they'd know exactly why.

Thank you for being goofy and keeping me laughing.

Thank you for protecting me from everything, even the squirrels who would just like to come out of the trees for five minutes (but you chase them right back up).

I hope everyone has the chance to have a dog like you. Everyone deserves to be loved unconditionally just as you love me. Everyone deserves to have a soulmate. Mine just came in the form of a dog (honestly, I'm not even going to complain about this).

Thank you for being the best thing that has ever happened to me. You saved me when I didn't even know I needed saving. For that, I will always play ball with you, I will always feed you half of my dinner and I will always let you lie in my lap despite your size.

There are days that you test my patience to the limit, but then you look at me with your big brown eyes and goofy little grin, and somehow I forget why I was even mad.

So thank you for making my life so much better and for being my absolute best friend.
